Yoga Philosophy: Beyond the Postures
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
A 16-week study · Live on Zoom · September 2026 – January 2027
The Yoga Sutras are the foundational text of yoga philosophy — a practical guide to the mind written roughly two thousand years ago, and still the clearest map we have of what the practice is actually for.
Over sixteen weeks we read them together. We begin with the history of yoga, so the text has a world to sit in, and then work through Chapter One, Chapter Two, and the opening of Chapter Three — including the Yamas and Niyamas, yoga’s ethical foundation and the part of the teaching that reaches furthest off the mat.
There is real teaching in every session, but this is meant to be a conversation. The best weeks are usually the ones where someone asks the question everyone else was quietly wondering about.
Who this is for
Anyone curious about the philosophy behind the practice. No prior study is needed, and you do not need to be a yoga teacher or want to become one. If you have ever wondered what yoga is beyond the postures, this is that conversation.
When we meet
Wednesdays, 5:30 pm – 7:45 pm [TIME ZONE] on Zoom
Each session runs 2 hours 15 minutes.

We break for the holidays after December 16 and return January 6. No sessions December 23 or December 30.
If you miss a session
