What Is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga that focuses on longer-held seated and reclined poses. Rather than building heat through continuous movement, Yin invites you to settle into postures and stay for several minutes to gently work with the deeper layers of the body, including fascia, joints, and connective tissue.
This practice also encourages mindfulness, patience, and awareness of breath.
What to Expect in a Yin Yoga Class
A Yin Yoga class typically begins with a gentle arrival and grounding period. From there, you will move into a series of supported floor-based postures held for longer periods of time. Props such as blankets, bolsters, and blocks may be used to help you relax into the shapes with more comfort and support.
Class is quiet, slow, and meditative, with time to soften, breathe, and release unnecessary tension.
