Hello

Meet Your Lead Trainer

Hi, I’m Debbie, founder of Hello Yoga and Lead Trainer for our 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

Yoga has been part of my life for more than 25 years. What began as a simple curiosity on the mat slowly unfolded into a deeply personal journey, one that invited me to listen more closely, to soften where I once pushed, and to discover strength I didn’t know I had. Over time, yoga became not just something I did, but a way of being—a path of self-discovery, healing, and growth that continues to evolve with me. Over the past 13 years of teaching, I’ve had the privilege of guiding thousands of classes, mentoring new teachers, and witnessing the quiet, powerful transformations that happen when people reconnect with themselves. I’ve come to believe that yoga is about far more than poses. It’s a lifelong practice of awareness, resilience, compassion, and connection. My practice has taken me from a place of self-doubt to becoming a quiet warrior. It has taught me to face, understand, and make peace with the internal battles we all encounter each and every day.

Yoga has carried me through life’s greatest challenges, including two cancer diagnoses. During those seasons, I did not stop my yoga practice, even when the ground beneath me felt uncertain and my body no longer moved the way it once had. The practice of yoga became something entirely different. It was no longer about strength or flexibility; it became a lifeline, a container of sorts, where I could place myself and feel safe. A steady breath in the middle of fear. A moment of stillness in the chaos of appointments, treatments, and the unknown.

My journey included extensive treatment and, years later, a recurrence that required even more intensive care, taking me away from the physical practice of yoga for a year (2024–2025).

During that time, breathwork (pranayama) and meditation became my anchors—simple, quiet practices that met me exactly where I was. In hospital rooms, in moments of exhaustion, in the spaces between uncertainty, I returned again and again to my breath. I returned again and again to myself, finding strength in the inner peace of my practice.

Yoga reminded me that even when everything felt out of control, there was still something steady within me. Those experiences reshaped my understanding of yoga in the most profound way. They deepened my belief that yoga can help us navigate uncertainty, cultivate resilience, and reconnect with ourselves—even when life feels most fragile.

As an E-RYT 500 and experienced teacher trainer, my passion is helping students deepen their understanding of yoga while building the confidence and skills to share it with others. My teaching blends anatomy, alignment, philosophy, meditation, intelligent sequencing, and practical teaching methodology with a supportive, approachable style that meets students where they are.

One of the many things that makes our training unique is our emphasis on mentorship and real-world experience. Our trainees don’t simply learn in a one-size-fits-all environment; they step into the role of teacher gradually and intentionally. They observe classes, practice teaching throughout the program, guide friends and family through optional sessions in the studio, receive thoughtful, individualized feedback, and build confidence one experience at a time in a supportive environment.

I believe this hands-on experience and community are the most valuable aspects of the training and perhaps the most important ingredients in becoming a confident teacher, ready to guide others.

I also believe students learn best when they feel seen, supported, and encouraged. Rather than simply delivering information, our teaching team works closely with each trainee throughout the program, offering personalized guidance and feedback as they develop their knowledge, confidence, and authentic teaching voice.

My intention is to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace.

My intention is not simply to help you earn a certification. I want you to leave this training with a deeper understanding of yoga, greater confidence in yourself, lifelong friendships, and the knowledge and experience to teach safely and authentically, if teaching is your path.

Not everyone joins a teacher training because they want to teach. Some people come simply to deepen their own practice, explore the philosophy of yoga, and better understand themselves. If that sounds like you, options are available. Let’s have a conversation, and we’ll talk about those options.

Whether you’re joining the program to become a yoga teacher or simply to deepen your own practice, I would be honored to support you on your journey.

With gratitude,

Debbie
